Take a peek in your web server’s PHP error log, and tell us what the errors was. It should be fairly obvious if you read through the message where the problem was coming from.

@4ella I just made a fresh test install of WP 3.6 beta4 and BP 1.8 beta 1 and I activated the bp-default theme and I can not replicate the issue you are having. Must be something weird in your database.
